Q. Why Substitute Swabs?
Ask your surgical team if they love swabs. Until now it was all they had. Techs are cleaning blind inside a trocar. Techs can’t see inside until they insert a scope. By then the scope is smudged again. Causing repeat scope cleanings. and trocar swabbing TroClear TM O.R. is the only shielded squeegee system that visually verifies when a trocar is scope ready.

Q. For Special Training
No special training required, it is as simple as a swab. Push TroClear tm O.R. into a trocar until full stop, lift your thumb,and retract. Rinse and repeat.
Q. How do I know if a trocar is scope ready?
Is 5 seconds per trocar enough time to clean a trocar? In most cases yes, Mednium recommends looking at the fins after each pass to be verifiably sure, if the fins are clean the trocar is clean.
Q. Disposable or Reusable
Unlike a swab that can’t be cleaned, TroClear tm O.R. can be used multiple times per patient. After each pass in a trocar, open the fins and rinse in sterile saline, tap dry and reinsert. Repeat as often as needed.
Q. What is the O.R. setup?
TroClear tm O.R. is normally used in pairs. One for your 5mm trocar and one for your larger trocar. TroClear tm O.R. is engineered for a precision fit. Different trocar brands have different inside diameters despite their label. For instance an Applied 5mm trocar uses a TC7-A5 and the Endopath XCel 5mm uses a TC5-E5 and the daVinci 8mm trocar uses a TC9-D8. The last letter and number matches your trocar brand and size. Q. What is the ROI?
TroClear tm O.R. is a perfect match for high tech robotics and laparoscopic procedures. A surgical procedure can be delayed up to 45 minutes using swabs that smear the cannula.. Your cost per minute in the O.R. Suite is valuable and delayed surgeries cascade into more delays throughout the day. Saving minutes on each dirty trocar can save thousands of dollars, it really adds up.

Q. Compatible EcoSystem?
TroClear tm SPD is currently compatible with:daVinci X, Xi, 5 robot trocars, 8 and 12mm. LumClear tm SPD is compatible with Stryker suction tubes 5mm and 10mm.
Q. Special Training?
No special training required, it is easier than using a brush.. Push our SPD squeegee products all the way through or push and pull to scrub on wet instruments. Brushes do not clean as well as a full friction squeegee and due to the high traction of our squeegee fins be sure to make the instruments wet before use. Techs love the squeegee as it saves time.
Q. Why use a squeegee over a brush?
Would you use a nylon brush for a windshield wiper? The brush has gaps between bristles leaving behind bio-burden. Bristles bend and need frequent replacement during the day. A squeegee can be used on multiple instruments of the same size throughout a 24 hour period.
Q. What is the cost difference with brushes?
Brushes using enzymatic cleaners are recommended to scrub an instrument for 1 to 2 mintues. Brush bristles bend and lose their scrub effect after a couple of instruments, multiple brushes are used per day. Mednium SPD squeegees can be used in the same manner for up to 24 hours on multiple instruments per day.
Q. How to clean SPD squeegees?
Simply use your squeegee with your enzymatic cleaner and rinse your favorite SPD squeegee in water between instrument cleanings. Use your squeegee for 24 hours per the IFU.
Q. How to many SPD squeegees do we need?
One device of the appropriate size per instrument per sink. per day. Use the CAT chart to find the correct size. Here is the CAT chart link. So if you have two sinks cleaning two sizes that would be 4 squeegees per day and cleaning four sizes per day on two sinks would be 8 squeegees per day.
